Greyhound Tank TL5

The Greyhound is a typical tank from the lowest tech level at which
such vehicles are commonly used. It mounts two low velocity guns in side
sponsons, and three machine guns (bow, rear, and commander's).

Minuteman Armored Truck TL5

The Minuteman is a limited use armored vehicle produced on the Plowhorse
truck chassis. Its fairly large turret (5.4kl) allows ample room for the
gunner's and the vehicle commander's seats. Offroad performance is compara-
ble to that of the unmodified cargo version.

Stalwart Heavy Tank TL5

The Stalwart is a heavy tank from the lowest tech level at which such
vehicles are commonly used. It mounts a large howitzer in a rotating turret,
and two machine guns (bow and commander's). Because of the ability of the
16cm howitzer to penetrate an unarmored starship hull, this vehicle is com-
monly found in a starport guard role on low tech worlds.

Plowhorse Truck TL5

The Plowhorse is designed for general purpose work at the lowest practi-
cal tech level for the manufacture of internal combustion engined vehicles.
The model shown here includes a radio installation, useful for exploration
parties and the like, but seldom installed for ordinary use. Reduce cost by
Cr500 if this option is removed. Designed for offroad travel, the vehicle is
equipped with fairly large tires to avoid bogging on soft surfaces. The
Plowhorse is open topped.

  CraftID: Plowhorse Truck, TL5, Cr9809
     Hull: 2/5, Disp=2, Config=4USL, Armor=1A, Unloaded=15.8t, Loaded=10.8t

Electric Bug TL5

The electric cargo bug shown below is a typical homebuilt vehicle from
Lydia, a decaying former mining world in the Spinward Marches. The planetary
atmosphere is too thin to support combustion, and the level of retained
technology is too low, to permit there to be any alternative to battery power
for a reliable vehicle. (Unreliable worn out higher tech vehicles can still
be found.) The operator and passenger of the bug must wear vacuum suits of
some sort for protection while operating the open topped vehicle.

CraftID: Electric Bug, TL5, Cr1365 less batteries (see notes)
     Hull: 1/3, Disp=1, Config=4USL(open), Armor=1A, Unloaded=3.6t,
           Loaded=7.0t
    Power: 1/2, Batteries=0.2MW-hr, Dur=2hrs at 0.1MW

      Def: -
  Control: Mech*1
    Accom: Seats=Adequate*2 (Driver, passenger)
    Other: Fuel=none, Cargo=3.4kl, ObjSize=Small, EmLevel=Faint
Notes: According to the current rules, the 2kl battery stack in this
vehicle would cost Cr1,000,000, and would require 250 mechanical
control panels (100kl, 25t) to control. Ridiculous! Performance
looks ok, and no characters should be given an opportunity to buy
one of these things anyway (too valuable to their owners,
regardless of any assessed value in credits), so ignoring the
cost of the batteries entirely looks like a reasonable temporary
solution. The "faint" emission level is an extrapolation not
covered by the rules. The vehicle is small enough that passenger
weight might matter, so seats were figured at 0.1t rather than
0.02t, to allow for an 80kg nominal passenger.

Gloriana Coastal Schooner TL5

The Gloriana was built in 1032 on Overnale, by a private concern based
out of Griffin Island. Like most Overnale ships, she carries a gun to deal
with sea monsters. The radio and radar were replaced recently, and are
powered by a generator run from the auxiliary engine when needed. Fuel
consumption for this purpose is minimal, and the radar is usually only used
during harbor maneuvers when the ship is running the engine anyway. At
present the Gloriana is used for smuggling activities under the cover opera-
tions of fishing or light cargo hauling.

Lifeboat TL5

sinking vessel. The grim reality of life at sea is that unless conditions
are perfect, and the ship is in immediate dange
