Let's see...using Supplement 11 (Library Data N-Z) and Spinward Marches Campaign, it is possible to put together a fairly complete picture of the movements of the Impy borders over the last 500-odd years. I won't bore you with ALL of that picture, just enough to annoy you...:-) First Frontier War: The Impy Frontier extended into Gvurrdon and Foreven Sectors. Not very far into each, but there were Impy worlds near the Consulate's Official Border (note that Zhos colonized beyond their own borders also, just like the Impies did) in both Sectors. During the 15 years of the War, the Impies were expelled from all the worlds they held in those two Sectors. In addition the Zhos took over Zeycude, Reno, Errere, Cantrel, Thengo, Gesentown, Chronor, and Atsa. Note that some of these worlds MAY have had Zho colonists, in addition to the Impy colonists, living there before the war. In addition, the Imperium was forced to allow independence to Rio, Whenge, Enlas-Du, Indo, Nerewhon, and Puparkin. In exchange, they took control of several dozen worlds in Chronor, Querion, and Vilis subsectors. The Second Frontier War: This time, the Impies lost only four worlds to the Zhos: Cipango, Chwistyoch, Riverland, and Clan. The Imperium was also forced to grant "several dozen" worlds in Chronor, Querion, and Vilis subsectors their independence (basically, all the ones they picked up at the end of the 1FW). Between wars: The Zhos pick up Terra Nova, Asmodeus, and Sansibar, all former Impy worlds granted "independence" by the Treaty ending the 2FW. The Third Frontier War: A repeat of the 2FW. The Imperium ceded directly to the Zhos: Resatt, Ao-Dai, Foelen, and Farreach. In addition the Zhos picked up Attica, Ninjar, Sheyou, Lebeau, Querion, and Rap's World, all of which were granted "independence" at the end of the 2FW. In addition, in this war, the Sword Worlds picked up two Impy worlds: Margesi and Saurus. They held these worlds until the Imperium recovered them after the 4FW, about 100 years later. And, as usual, the Imperium was forced to grant independence to another bunch of worlds in Vilis and Querion subsectors. The Fourth Frontier War: The Zhos grab one (1) world, which had been a member of the Imperium before the 3FW. In addition, they force the Imperium to grant independence to Algebaster, and force joint tenancy of Esalin. At this time, the Imperium recovered Margesi and Saurus from the Sword Worlds. The Fifth Frontier War: For the first time, the Impies fight a war with the Zhos, WITHOUT having to give up any worlds. Unfortunatelly, they didn't gain any worlds either, unless you count the dismembered Sword Worlds. > (WHAT? But...but...the Imperium _never_ loses........WHAAAAA!) Well, against the Zhos, they have an almost unblemished record of losses. They haven't EVER taken a world away from the Zhos. But they have finally figured out how to avoid losing more worlds to the Zhos, anyway...;-) That's something, isn't it? ;-) Steve Bonneville: > Before this topic gets too tangled, realize that there are some > rules changes between CT/MT and TNE that can affect the tactics. <discussion about effects of rules set on "the way things work in combat in Trav deleted> Bravo! I agree completely, and wish to associate myself 100% with these remarks! The Rules Set is of overwhelming importance in ANY discussion of war, commerce, or much of anything else except PCs mucking about... ---Steve Higginbotham
